Deb Haaland has had multiple chances to condemn Data Centers, but she has refused every time. When asked about the impact of Project Jupiter, a mega data center being built in southern New Mexico, she said, “We can’t afford that, so guardrails need to be put on data centers.” Deb Haaland is side stepping a question that is on the minds of many New Mexicans, from farmers, to workers, to teenagers to grandmas. People don’t want data centers, we want to live dignified lives, we want a future. The leadership we need is not someone who is going to sit on a fence at our expense.

Tech companies who want to build Data Centers in New Mexico are steam rolling local people and the desert. Millions of gallons of water have already been stolen.

Meanwhile wells are collapsing, farmers are struggling, ranchers are selling off their herds, children are thirsty, the forests are burning and the Rio Grand is bone dry.

How can we knowingly vote for a governor who is already playing nice with corporations who have no regard for human life or the future of New Mexicans?

The majority of New Mexicans oppose these data centers, but our Politians are still playing their ball. It’s time to stop playing games and refuse to vote for Deb Haaland or anyone until they publicly declare Data Centers are not welcome in NM.

Part of refusing to vote for Deb is to put her in a position to publicly condemn data centers, which would have a material impact on them deciding to set up shop here, the other part is showing that we have leverage over all these politicians, and it is entirely possible to weild it for our best interests. Like data centers, this current system that consistently leaves us out to dry while the rich get richer, is not inevitable- and the masses of people are the defining factor (if we make it happen).

Our demand is Ban Data Centers.

Not “gaurdrails”, not just a little water for Data Centers: NO DATA CENTERS IN NEW MEXICO.

We want water for crops, water for the river, water for the people.

These Data Centers will guzzle up our resources, pollute our air, all the while they sweet-talk us with promises of jobs and prosperity. In reality, these jobs come with a death sentence.

We can’t avoid the truth that people are struggling out here and need good, reliable jobs. NM has long been under the thumb of politicians, government agencies, and corporations who take what they want and leave us to clean up the mess. Changing this is going to take a massive upheaval.
